There were 11,000 runners between the 4 races. In St. Paul, there was the Monster Dash Half Marathon and 10 miler (I will be doing the Half next year.) In Minneapolis were the 5k and the 5k-9, both unchipped (not timed) events. In Minneapolis, there were at least 3,000 runners, walkers and dogs. The youngest runners were 7 years old. And some of them ran the whole way with their parents.
While I didn’t meet my goal of running it in 35 minutes or less, I did meet many other goals.
1. I wasn’t the last one in… When I participated in the relay, we were DEAD last.
2. Run it in under 45 minutes. Based on distance and pace, that’s what I would have run it in April when I ran in the relay.
3. Have a good time. We had a great time.
4. My actual time was 40 minutes, on the nose. That’s 12.9 minute miles
5. I had a PR (personal record) of 10.49 average pace. Now, if I can make that my actual time.
Below are the pictures from the Team Ortho Monster Dash Prep (taken on October 9th) and race day!
